Coalition Forces in Iraq Volume 1

Carl Schulze & Yves Debay ISBN 962-361-094-7
64 pages, 203 color photos

Our war correspondents Carl Schulze and Yves Debay traveled to Iraq in December 2003 and brought us a 2-volume photo report of the coalition forces maintaining peace there.

In June 2003, the Combined Joint Task Force 7 (CJTF-7) replaced the Coalition Forces Land Component Command as headquarters for all coalition forces operating in Iraq. The mission of Combined Joint Task Force 7 is to conduct offensive operations to defeat remaining noncompliant forces and neutralize destabilizing influences in the Area of Responsibility to create a secure environment in direct support of the Coalition Provisional Authority (CPA). In addition, CJTF-7 is also tasked with the rebuilding of Iraqi security forces, including a new Iraqi Army, police force and border police force.

Volume 1 covers the CJTF-7, AOR North controlled by the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), AOR Central South controlled by the Multinational Division (Central South), and Iraq's new armed forces.

The CJTF-7 chapter explains the organization of the task force in Iraq, the units stationed there, supported by photos of American and coalition soldiers and armor.

The 101st Airborne chapter is illustrated with photos of the Screaming Eagles operating in Northern Iraq.

The MND (CS) chapter concentrates on the Polish, Mongol, Spanish, Central American, Bulgarian, Hungarian and Ukrainian contingents. Photos feature the armor and equipment of these coalition forces.

The final chapter is devoted to the reconstructed Iraq Army after the Saddam regime.
