Even though the U.S. Army is equipped with the MLRS, it is still equipped
with self-propelled howitzers. The FA cannon battery is the firing
element of the cannon battalion, and the M109A6 Paladin provides the
firepower to the 1-6 FA cannon batteries. The mission of the Paladin
is to destroy or neutralize the enemy by cannon fire in combined-arms
operations.
2) German Artilleriebrigade 100 in Thuringer Lowe
The newly formed German Artilleriebrigade 100 was deployed in FTX
Thuringer Lowe, a brigade size field training exercise. Concentrating
all of the German army's artillery, surveillance and rocket artillery
units, the brigade is one of the six brigades under the command of
the HTrKdo. ArtBrig 100 has in its inventory MARS, Gepard, PzH 2000,
M109A3 GE, Drohne and Luna drones, as well as recon vehicles and surveillance
radars.
3) Belgian 7th Mechanized Brigade, the "Gallic" Brigade
The Gallic Brigade consists of regiments of armored infantry, tank
and artillery. The Leopard 1A5 and AIFV form the backbone of the mechanized
punch of the brigade, supported by M109A2 self-propelled howitzers
and logistics vehicles like Bergepanzer and Leguan bridgelayer.
