1) 9th/12th Royal Lancers
Exercise "Summer Charge" was an FTX at regimental level held by the 9th/12th Royal Lancers (Prince of Wales's) based at Bergen-Hohne. For some recon troops, this was their very first exercise in a civil area in Germany. Along with the basic skills of close reconnaissance, guarding areas, and securing the flanks, erecting and moving through checkpoints were major tasks reviewed during this exercise, with an eye toward future missions. Of interesting note is the "Desert Scimi", up-armored, desertised Scimitar deployed to Iraq.

The Ulan AIFV is designed to go into battle with the Leopard 2A4 tanks. With the Ulan armored infantry fighting vehicle, the Austrian Army received a highly capable fighting machine that uses 21st century technology.
