various authors ISBN 962-361-126-9
48 pages, 162 color photos, 1/35 scale plans
This
book contains these articles:
1) "Gators" in Fallujah
This
article exclusively covers AAVP7A1 RAM/RS operated by the USMC. The
vehicles of the 2nd Assault Amphibian Battalion were photographed
while operating in the vicinity of Fallujah in Iraq. There are tremendous
photos of AAVs churning through the sandy desert of Iraq, along with
a knowledgeable text that describes the "Tuna Boat's" history,
technical details and use in Iraq.
2) "European Challenge" for the Bundeswehr
"European
Challenge" is a major joint combined exercise conducted by German
armed forces, one of the largest to be held in Germany in recent years.
Because of the exercise's size, the author was given plenty of opportunities
to see and photograph a wide range of contemporary military vehicles.
Thus, there are Leopard 2A6s, Panzerhaubitze 2000s, Marder 1A3s, Wiesel
I and IIs, TPz 1A4s, Dingos, Fenneks, Duro 3s and G-Wagens. There
are also plenty of infantry shots as well.
3
) Leopards against Leopards
The end of the Cold War heralded some fascinating results, including
joint training between former enemies! This article examines the "Salchauer
Schild" joint training between German and Polish armored units,
both equipped with Leopard tanks. As such, the story shows Leopard
2A4s and 2A6s in all their glory during maneuvers, along with other
tactical vehicles from both nations
4
) BDMZ-III
One of the latest European nations to field the Piranha 8x8 is Spain,
with its Marines being equipped with 18 Piranha IIIs. There are excellent
views of the Piranha's interior and exterior, and a very useful summary
of how the vehicles will be deployed by the Spanish Marines, along
with technical details of the vehicle.
