This
book contains these articles:
1) German Airborne Mungo
Germany's Fallschirmjager (Airborne) troops have received
a new tactical vehicle known as the Mungo. This multipurpose vehicle
with a combat weight of 5.3 tons is covered in explicit detail. The
text outlines the Mungo's development and covers all technical aspects
of this unique vehicle. Meanwhile, a series of photos documents interior
and exterior details of the Mungo, as well as showing the vehicle
in action.
2) "Dagger Brigade" in Noble Shepherd
The 2nd "Dagger" Brigade of the 1st Infantry Division "Big
Red One" conducted a Mission Rehearsal Exercise in Germany prior
to deploying to Iraq. This article from the snow-covered Joint Multinational
Readiness Center (JMRC) in Hohenfels shows a whole host of units in
action. Photographs portray infantrymen and their vehicles such as
Humvees, M113A3s, Bradleys, M88A1s and M1A1 Abrams tanks as they plough
through the mud and ice. This article represents a fine study of an
American combined-arms brigade in action.
3
) U.S. Army Helicopters at War
Current military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan rely heavily on
helicopters, and this article examines all the helicopter types in
use with the U.S. Army. Content thus includes the AH-64D Apache, OH-58D
Kiowa Warrior, CH-47D Chinook, UH-60L Black Hawk and UH-60Q Medevac.
This piece shows these helicopters in action, with numerous close-ups
of these air cavalry workhorses and their crewmen as they operate
on the frontlines against extremist insurgencies.
